It’s been a couple of weeks since my trip to Dumaguete so as you can guess I’ve been taking it easy lately. My trip started out at at Cebu/Mactan Airport in the evening and arrived in Dumaguete airport about 10:00pm. It was a short flight of about 45-50 minutes so it wasn’t too bad. Since I didn’t have checked baggage I was able to go straight out of the airport to the walkway that lead to a main road where you can pickup a Trike. Several trike owners attempted to sell their services for 250 pesos (250/56 = $4.50) but once I got past the first couple, the price went down to 100 pesos. It was a short trike ride to the Air B&B that I booked which was about $25/night which wasn’t to bad.

Everything you need for a comfortable nights rest. This was in a condo setting with security guards at the gate. The host’s assistant was there to meet me and escort me to my room.

There was a nice pool available for use however it closed down at 8:00, as most hotel pools.

The next day I met up with Alex ( an Irishman from New Zealand ) and took me for a quick breakfast at Sans Rival.

After Breakfast we made a couple of stops at coffee shops and made new friends. On Wednesdays’ they have a bible study that consumes about 6 tables with 6-7 people at each table.

After breakfast and meeting new people, it was time for my afternoon siesta and one of the guys offered me a ride back to my room in his electric cart.

Electric cart ride

I spent 5 days there, I mostly went to the same places to eat but did venture out a little to some different cafes. One of the restaurants I tried was called Cafe Racers. They had a great menu of items, I chose the pan fried steak with mashed potatoes and their Mac&Cheese. It was great ($11.00).

All in all I had a good time. As you may be able to tell, it’s a small town with older infrastructure. The interesting think about being at the coffee shop was that the guys all sat at one table and the ladies would sit at a different table, if they weren’t off shopping of at the gym.

I’m not sure that’s where I want to spend time but I’m glad I went! My next trip will be to a smaller town called Valencia. It’s at a higher elevation so it’ll be cooler that in the rest of the Philippines.

I hope all of you are doing well!

Till next time,

Wyn
