Well guys (and girls), I have something that I am a little proud of. As a solo traveler, I have often wondered what would happen if I was away from home and had an accident? What if I was unconscious or non responsive? How would any emergency personnel respond with no information about the person? Or, how would they respond if I had a way to communicate critical information about myself. I’ve thought long and hard about this. Is it possible to preplan for such an event? I think so and I think I have a solution.

With the help of technology, I have developed a method of creating a medical alert badge that you can keep on your person that will give Emergency Medical personnel critical information that may save your life. It’s data hidden in plain sight. I have developed a method that will allow you to give information like:

Checkout the FAQ section

Your Name
Date of Birth
Emergency Contact Name
Emergency Contact Phone Number
Your Doctor’s Name
Your Doctor’s Phone number
Preferred Hospital
Medical Allergies
Blood Type
List of medication

This information can be life saving in a critical situation. I have developed a form that will collect this information, create a QR code in badge form that can be laminated and kept on your person. This process is done completely on-line with out any human interaction and emailed back to you. You will only need to print it out and laminate it. You could put a copy of on your refrigerator or other conspicuous place.

The QR code can be read by most modern smart phones with a QR reader. This will give emergency personnel quick and easy access to your needed information.

I would appreciate your help in testing this out and giving me your feedback!

I’ll be adding the page to the menu items so you will be able to get there from anywhere on this site.

Don’t forget to give me feedback, even if it’s critical!

Thank you, and have a great day!

  1. A great idea – sorry that it took a scary incident to invent it – glad that you’re doing well now. If you have space on the QR code, may want to add a short medical history or identify the major medical issue. I’m more sensitive to hot weather (dehydration), something that’s more likely to occur the more that it happens – so stay well hydrated. That’s for developing this badge.

  2. Looks like this QR code for medical info is invaluable. Will look into further.
